Debelah Morgan vs Marc Anthony - Dance With Me (I Need To Know) [Mash-up]

30th November

Late 90’s (1999) Smash hit “I Need To Know” by Marc Anthony vs the U.S. One-Hit wonder “Dance with Me” by Debelah Morgan (2000-2001) (Mash-up) mixed-up on the Ultimix/Funkymix recording. (Debelah Morgan possesses a 5 octave vocal range and is able to sing in whistle register. When asked about singing using an ability that most “only associate with Mariah Carey ” during an interview) well, hope you’ll really enjoy with both awesome voices :)

Review.- Debelah Morgan (born September 29, 1977, Detroit, Michigan) is an American R&B singer and songwriter. Her stage name was simply Debelah at the beginning of her music career, but changed to her full name after her first music label dropped her. Morgan has enjoyed sporadic success, peaking with her song “Dance with Me.”

Debelah was born to an African-American father and an Indian mother, and is conversational in Hindi. She also has learned to sing in several languages, including French, Italian, German, Hindi, and Portuguese. She started taking piano lessons at the age of 3. Her family moved from Detroit to Arizona, where she won beauty pageants at the age of fifteen and organized a gospel choir in her high school. She majored in Vocal Performance.

At the age of seventeen, she signed to Atlantic Records and released her debut album Debelah. This is her rarest album, having been released only in the US and Japan and poorly promoted. She was dropped from her label not long after its release.
She then signed with Motown and in 1998 released her second album It’s Not Over. She co-wrote half of the tracks, and her brother Giloh was a co-writer on several songs as well. It’s Not Over was released only in Europe and Asia, where the singles “I Love You” and “Yesterday” were merely modest hits. After Motown was bought by Universal Music Group, the label wanted Debelah to record an urban contemporary album. She left Universal because she wanted to do a pop-R&B album that appealed to a wider audience; she saw the label as attempting to turn her into just another young black female hip-hop-style singer.

Debelah filed for bankruptcy after leaving Universal, but she refused to give up her singing career and began working on a new album. She co-wrote all of the tracks with her brother. When she presented the material to Atlantic, they quickly signed her, not remembering that they had signed her before. Her album Dance with Me was released in 2000. The title track, based on “Hernando’s Hideaway,” a popular tango song, became a hit, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Singles chart and gaining popularity all over the world. In Spain, a Spanish version, “Baila Conmigo” was also released. Debelah went on the media circuit for “Dance with Me,” finally getting the heavy promotion she hadn’t received from Atlantic on her debut.

Marco Antonio Muñiz (born September 16, 1968 in New York with Puerto Rican ancestry) is a songwriter, popular in Latin America for his salsa music and ballads.

Marc Anthony began his career as a session vocalist for Freestyle music and Underground New York House music acts. After changing his name to avoid confusion with his namesake, Anthony worked as a songwriter and backing vocalist for pop acts including Menudo and the Latin Rascals. His first album was a Freestyle music record, “Rebel”, in 1988 on Bluedog Records. That same year he wrote and produced “Boy I’ve Been Told” for fellow Freestyle artist Sa-Fire. Then in 1989, he sang backup vocals for Ann-Marie, another fellow Freestyle artist on the Freestyle club hit, “With or Without You” produced by Little Louie Vega and Todd Terry. A year later, 1990, with Little Louie Vega and Todd Terry, Marc wrote and whispered a duet with Freestyle artist Chrissy I-eece, called “You Should Know By Now”. In 1991, he sung backing vocals for another Freestyle track by the artist Edmond titled “Come Back To Me”. In 1992, still working with Todd Terry, he provided vocals for the Freestyle cut “Love Change” which is on the flip-side of a 12″ vinyl released by Elan and The Powermachine titled “Here’s Your Hat”, production of Todd Terry. At the same time, he collaborated with his other Freestyle music producer Little Louie Vega, who featured the singer on many another Freestyle-flavored club hit “Ride On The Rhythm” and “When The Night Is Over” album, which featured the Freestyle classic “Time”. In 1992, Vega and Anthony opened for Latin bandleader Tito Puente at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

In 1999, attempting to emulate the crossover success of Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin in the anglophone market, Anthony released an English-language Latin Pop self titled album with the US Top 5 hit single “I Need to Know”, and the Spanish version “Dímelo”. Other hits include “When I Dream At Night” and “My Baby You”. His song “You Sang To Me”, was featured in Runaway Bride.
